About the division
Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) is included in the top-4 strategic priorities of the group-wide transformational strategy of Deutsche Bank. Asia is central to DB’s ESG strategy because vast majority of global ESG capital is expected to be deployed in Asia. As a European bank with global presence and established credentials in the global ESG market, DB is well positioned to lead growth of Asian ESG market. Our ESG strategy is client-centric, focusing on banking solutions to support the sustainability commitments of our clients. This role is based in our Sustainable Finance Centre of Excellence (COE) which works with and offers clients a full suite of products and services from four business divisions - Investment Bank, Corporate Bank, Private Wealth Management and Asset Management.

As we continue to grow our franchise in the region, we are building a team of professionals with world-class expertise in ESG/sustainable finance. The qualified candidate gets the opportunity to work closely with and learn from the ESG experts and engage on transactions across Deutsche Bank.

About the role
Working on our day-to-day business as well as on special projects, you will contribute to the innovation of new ideas to help our customers achieve their financial goals. You will gain experience in different areas of our business and learn about our market-leading solutions. The internship is an ideal way of finding out whether a career in ESG meets your needs and aspirations.

The Sustainable Finance Interns will be based in Singapore and will be expected to engage in the following tasks:  

  • Assist the team in supporting transaction teams and clients in preparation of ESG transactions 
  • Conduct company research and prepare information material on sustainability programs of companies, presenting them in client-ready presentation formats
  • Conduct research on global ESG transactions, deal structure and technological issues involved in measuring and monitoring of ESG impact
  • Work with DB’s communications team to support external communications vis-à-vis ESG credentials and experiences of DB
  • Work on financial models and economic models in the structuring of ESG transactions, including the selection of ESG KPIs and preparation of ESG impact/results frameworks
  • Assist the team to coordinate any ESG related matters as appropriate

What we look for
We recruit students and graduates who are intelligent and adaptable with excellent communication skills. They have degrees in many different disciplines. Even though good levels of numeracy are important for some roles, you won’t necessarily need a formal mathematical or financial background. Our comprehensive training programmes will give you all the technical knowledge you’ll need to build a career with us.
